On June 22nd, 2021, the Erasmus Dance Society will present our first annual Dance Showcase held at the Erasmus Paviljoen. Our association's members and teachers created this performance to feature 35 dancers mainly from the Hip Hop, High Heels, and Contemporary Show Teams.
The theme of this year’s showcase is “Connection.” During a year of unprecedented separation, EDS wants to use this performance to explore the different ways that we connect, tapping the medium of dance to communicate what words often fail to. In creating this, the members of each show team had the opportunity to form new and deeper connections with their fellow dancers, as well as with themselves and their own bodies.
Join us for a 45 min dance photoshoot session with our amazing Promo Committee and a photographer on the 18th of June in Het Park You can join us by yourself or bring a friend (or a few friends with) and snap some creative shots of you dancing!
In order to make the most of your time, bring a mood board showing the kind of photos you want to inspire our photographers. Or you could bring with you a prop or something that you would like to include in the pictures.

More so than ever, we crave to do things physically in person. On June 2, as part of the (Re)Igniting Wellbeing event in collaboration with the EUR Student Wellbeing team, you will have the chance to step out of your comfort zone, become more in tune with your body, and try something completely new! In this (in person) movement class facilitated by EDS and EL, we will help you will learn to deepen your bodily awareness and senses through the exploration of movements and music.
Different improvisation exercises are used as tools to analyze your physical and mental well-being, and to move you towards a more content state of mind. Choreographies are not taught in this class, it is rather directed to those interested in connecting with their inner-self through dance. The movement classes are accessible for everyone and no prior experience in dance is required.

Our ambition for this project was inspired by the design of AKWAMAN streetwear and the effortlessness in their style. We decided to take advantage of the creative space and turn different dynamics into a colourful unity. After the press conference of yesterday, it has become clear that the amount of positive tested cases is dropping but not fast enough, resulting in stricter rules for (at least) the upcoming two weeks. One of these rules states that group lessons are forbidden. Unlike last time, this time dance is not considered as an exception forcing us to cancel all of our physical classes for (at least) the upcoming two weeks starting tonight on Wednesday 4/11/20 at 22:00.
In order to still provide classes, we have decided to substitute our physical classes for online classes starting on Monday 9/11/20. To make sure that the quality of the online classes resemble the quality of the physical classes as much as possible, all of this weeks remaining classes that take place after Wednesday 4/11/20 22:00, will be canceled (e.g. Salsa Advanced, Standard Bronze, Standard Silver, Vogue, Contemporary Friday Beginners, and Contemporary Friday Intermediate/Advanced). Of course, if the situation let us, we will make up for these classes later on in this dance season. More information regarding the online classes will follow soon, so be sure to keep an eye on your email. Thankyou for understanding our decision, please stay safe

Merab has been training from a young age at the National Georgian Ensemble with his dance partner Mary. His world turns upside down when the carefree Irakli arrives and becomes both his strongest rival and desire.
This third feature from Swedish-born director Levan Akin (Certain People, The Circle), who is himself of Georgian descent, combines all our favourite elements from stories about dancers, young people falling in love and coming out. And Then We Danced is about a young male dancer who develops feelings for his main rival. Merab, a young Georgian from a family of dancers, has been training all his life for a career with the National Georgian Ballet. Though his dance teacher is very demanding and daily rehearsals are physically draining, Merab’s biggest obstacle to overcome is the fact he starts to have feelings for a newly arrived fellow dancer, who happens to be not only also a man but his main rival for a much-desired spot at the Ballet.

Fierce, Powerful and Strong! Vogue is a dance style that was born in Harlem, New York's Black and Latino LGBTQ communities during the 1960s -1980s. Vogue is more than just a dance style but a movement that became a liberating form of self-expression and identity for the queer community. In this workshop, we will deepdive into some exercises together with our own Ramsley Alexander in our own Training room 4. Ramsley is an A-class Latin lead who’s already taught lessons at EDS (bronze & silver last year, the chacha workshop last dance evening, the upcoming speedcourse) and knows exactly what we need!!
